A new challenger has entered the congressional race for the seat currently occupied by Rick Renzi. With all due respect to Ellen Simon, who I thought was a good candidate, this one may be even better.
Former T.V. reporter and Native American rights advocate Mary Kim Titla, has decided to enter the race for congressional district 01. See here
While Ellen Simon has great credentials, I believe that Mary Kim has the best shot of taking the district from Renzi, whether or not he decides to run or is unable to run. With the district covering parts of the Navajo, Hopi, Hualapi, and Havasupi, she has instant name recognition with Native Americans.
I personally am excited and believe we may have our first Native American women in congress.
