Representative Ann Kirpatrick, (D) AZ-1, picked up where her indicted Republican predecessor Rick Renzi left off, pushing for a land swap that will give the Resolution Copper Company control of a 3,000 acre site in the Tonto National Forest.
Kirkpatrick claims that, despite a history of opposition to the swap by environmentalists, rock climbers, and Native Americans, she is joining Arizona's Republican congressional delegation on this issue because the mine will bring 1,000 jobs to the economically depressed area.
